Almost every teacher of Czech for foreigners must, at some time, have had to deal with the question of what to read with students who already speak Czech but still can't manage without a dictionary and the help of a teacher. Now the first volume of the forthcoming series Adapted Czech Texts, which features the Malá Strana Stories by the famous Czech author, Jan Neruda, can come to your aid in such a situation. This work was not chosen by chance. Neruda is an author in whose work we can find not only the magic of the old world, but also a completely timeless portrait of human characters (Arnošt Lustig wrote recently about how enthusiastic his young American students were about Neruda's writings).

The publication includes a brief profile of Jan Neruda, six of his stories adapted for learners, and some brief information about house signs of old Prague. You can also find a Czech-English-German-Russian glossary and a collection of grammatical and lexical exercises for each text. There are also exercises to develop students' communication skills (before- and after-reading activities). This publication is suitable for intermediate students.
